Athletic Club Wins Funding To Attract New Volunteers

Derby Athletic Club has secured funding from England Athletics to the sum of £2450 in an attempt to attract volunteers over the next 12 months.

The Club has looked into those areas where help is needed and is targeting volunteers from the local community.

Volunteers are needed in many ways – coaches, coach helpers, preparing articles for the local press, catering, preparing training sites at Moorways Stadium, preparing posters/notices, taking on small roles to help the Club’s Officers and other areas.

The Club is expanding and frequently has 200-250 members training on club nights (Tuesdays, Thursdays 5.30 – 8.30pm and Sundays 10.00am – 12.00pm).

It hopes to attract people with time on their hands, wanting to develop their own skills and may have an interest in sport especially the number one Olympic sport.

Anyone who may be interested in this opportunity should contact the chair, Barry Parker, whose email address is on the Club’s website, derbyathletic.club
