Forum Treasurer Bob Thorne fulfils his commitment to the DCSF Community Fund.

Bob Thorne, treasurer at the Derby City Sport Forum took to the streets recently and walked over 10k to raise money for young people in the community.

The funds raised will go to the newly formed Derby City Sport Forum Community Fund. The aim of the fund is to help youngsters in Derby gain access to sporting opportunities, either to take part in or attending sporting experiences that they might not normally have the chance to do. The Forum’s ambitions are to grow the fund and consult with it’s members as to which individuals or community groups in the city will benefit from these opportunities the most.

As we move out of lock-down and begin to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic, children and young people, more than ever, will need support to regain their confidence and self esteem and sport plays a major role in this.

Bob’s fundraising efforts equate to over £130 so far, he asked friends and family to donate to the cause.

As well as Bob’s effort, Helen Britten is training hard to take part in the Derby 10k in October and aims to raise over £100. You can donate to the fund via Helen’s just giving page- https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/helen-britten?utm_term=5ZD7DN99K

If you would like to donate to help grow the fund, or if you can support in other ways such as providing opportunities, then we’d love to hear from you!
